Conditions and Injuries - Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation Services

 

Patients with traumatic brain injury are may be seen in the acute inpatient hospital setting by the rehabilitation consultation service, admitted to the inpatient rehabilitation unit, or referred to the outpatient traumatic brain injury clinic.  Through this program, people with losses in specific thinking abilities, like memory and concentration, receive individual treatment. 

Care may include evaluation and treatment by a rehabilitation physician, Neuropsychologist, rehabilitation psychologist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, recreational therapist, speech pathologist, and clinical social worker with referral to a vocational case coordinator. Team members work with patients and family members to establish treatment goals to improve the patient’s independence.  Referral for appropriate community resources will also be explored.
